Third Consecutive Top Ten for MDM Team

Berkley, MA - (July 8, 2009) – Jake and the Mad Dog Motorsports team were in action once again this past Saturday night for a 30-lap main at the “Action Track of the East,” Seekonk Speedway. Continuing their streak of good finishes, the team brought the #28 DeSouza Motorsports Late Model across the line in the tenth finishing position.

Jake gridded from the second position, one that he would hold onto early on in the event. He eventually relinquished the second, third, and fourth positions as veterans Kevin Casper, Ryan Vanesse and Bill Bernard made their way by. Jake had a stranglehold on the fifth position until a late race caution. At the time of the caution, Jake was battling with Gerry DeGasparre, Jr. for the fifth spot, and it was determined that DeGasparre nosed Jake at the line. This forced Jake into the sixth position and the outside lane on the restart.

“This car is a dog on the outside. When we get stuck out there, it just sends us straight back. Its not like the Pro Stock where we can dig in and make some headway out there. Its just a different animal.” Jake lost several positions on the restart, as cars were able to get by on the inside. When the final caution of the event flew, Jake was once again in the outside lane on the restart and lost several more positions. When the checkers were unfurled, Jake crossed the line in the tenth position.

“It really stinks to get a good run spoiled like that at the end, but I am proud of what our team has been able to do with this car. When we got it, it was a borderline top ten car, but definitely not a top five car. We have made it competitive to the point where we can flirt with the top five and definitely bring it home in the top ten. Its been a challenge, but everyone has done a good job and I have to thank Eric DeSouza for giving us this opportunity; otherwise we would not be racing right now.”

MDM will be back at it this Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway for Everett’s Auto Parts Night. Race time is 6pm.
